Hello everyone! Now that I got my new blog up and running, I want to actually get use out of it! I have been working on a project for quite a bit, though, not more than a year. I am currently making a Tower Defense and Auto-chess hybrid game that I think will have a great formula if I can pull it off well. So far I'm struggling to make some final decisions on core gameplay, mainly resource management design, aesthetic/theme, and ui layout. With that said, I think this will turn out to be another simple and fun formula.
I did say it was simple, but also a bit more complicated than other auto-chesses to my knowledge. It is played like a Tower Defense. At the same time, you are attacking your opponent's base. So traditionally Tower Defenses have one path and you defend along it. Simple. This game is played 1v1. So I am designing it with mirrored paths, one for you and one for your opponent. You buy minions and towers from the Tavern (auto-chess) and play them. The minions are your offense units, the towers are your defense. You are randomly selected options of both in the tavern and need to make the most out of your luck. Memorization, tower placement, aligning classes, and minion order will be a focus for success. I will admit, I am not experienced with designing around these factors so I hope it goes well enough.
My goal is to make a tower defense game that doesn't get old and can be updated fairly easily. Not to say I don't want to put in work, but I would like to keep the game fresh and allow other people to be involved to balance the game at some point. I will say, if there's a lot of effort involved for something that seems fairly small, I will not do it. I've been trying to do my work right the first time and set my future self up for success. This website is a good example of that. It took a surprising amount to get this blog thing working. Good God man.
I am not going to be posting any pictures on this blog (plus I don't know if pictures work yet on my blog). I may in the future, but I hope you can use your imagination for it. TD Arena is a placeholder name and hopefully I'll have more time to work on it in the near future. Stay tuned...
